Chainmail  |  Transience   |  Ornamentation  |  Production

This series of work explores contemporary forms of armor.
The (ir)rational causes of fear such as nature, disease, death, etc. affect the moral climate and value systems of both the independent and the collective. Pedestrian objects are recreated in a historically prevalent form of armor—chain mail. The original pedestrian objects are designed to safeguard against specific dangers. Through material transformation, the protective qualities denoted by the object are elevated. The artworks critically assess the impacts fear has on our ideological perspectives.
